Pep Guardiola says he is delighted with the form of his players after Manchester City beat Tottenham 3-0 at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium.

Goals from John Stones, Raheem Sterling and Brahim Diaz ensured City’s US Tour ended in style as the Blues registered their second impressive win in the space of three days after Real Madrid were put to the sword in LA on Wednesday.

And Guardiola, clearly upbeat, says he is happy with the way his side are playing ahead of the Premier League opener in two weeks’ time.

“I’m so happy for all of them involved,” he said. “Of course, the results are good for confidence and the way we did it, our performance is good.

“I’m so satisfied especially in the last two games - no injuries, then we come back home, rest and prepare.”

City once again played three at the back and looked fluid and in control throughout.

Vincent Kompany, Nicolas Otamendi and Stones operated as a three-man unit in front of the impressive Ederson, with Kyle Walker and Danilo offering width down the flanks.

But Guardiola says the system isn’t permanent, insisting he wants his players to be tactically flexible during the season.

“You have the quality with Kyle and Danilo, they have that physicality,” he said. “Some days we’ll play that [three at the back] but sometimes we’ll play with four.”
